

VOON ZHEN YI is a public policy analyst. He was the former Research Director of KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific (KSI). Prior to joining KSI, he was Manager of Programmes & Research at the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI)’s Centre for Public Policy Studies (CPPS). Voon has contributed several op-eds on matters of the economy, education policy, politics and governance, as well as international relations.
Active in youth development work, Voon was the National Secretary of the Boys’ Brigade in Malaysia and was formerly a Director at YMCA Kuala Lumpur where he was chair of Programmes and Youth. Prior to his career in think tanks, Voon worked full-time in NGOs for 4 years providing youth training and development.
Voon holds a Master of Public Policy and Management from Monash University, Australia, and a Bachelor of Business and Commerce from the same university,

He is married to Sarah Yong, a lawyer trained in Sheffield, who is currently a member of the Malaysian Bar Council.
